Past and Present

       Bethany Presbyterian Church began as Menands Mission School in 1859, four dedicated women gathered a group of children to provide Christian Education for the Village of Menands. In 1888 the school moved to the corner of N Lyons and Menand Road. The church sanctuary was built and officially became Bethany Presbyterian Sunday School and Church.  On July 5, 1889 the church was officially incorporated as Bethany Presbyterian Church of Menands, New York. The sanctuary has been in continuous use since the church's construction in 1888.

      Today Bethany Presbyterian Church consists of approximately 150 members. Bethany Presbyterian Church is a friendly and caring church.  We have a hands-on approach to being a congregation; we love God in faith and in deed.  The church building is used for Sunday service, Sunday School, choir and youth group; but also used for AA meetings (Sunday 7:30-8:30), a Senior Citizens Club (Thursday 10am-3pm) and more. The congregation is always busy planning for a community dinner, the annual Strawberry Festival, bazaar and rummage sale.  We hope you will stop by and join us sometime for worship or any other event. Please check out our "What's Happening" page for more details!
